Christian Mullon, Gorka Merino, Manuel Barange. A role playing game was developed to understand the difficulties of managing common renewable resources. In the game regional fish stocks are traded in a globalized market where consumers demand two marine commodities: fishmeal and fish oil. Players are assigned particular roles (scientific advice, conservationist roles, economic investors, government officials, etc.) and make decisions in the absence of full information according to their own objectives. Over time players observe the dynamics of the global resources and assess how close they are to their initial objectives. The game is accessible through www.pml-globalpelagic.org.uk, although a password is required so that runs are logged for further analysis.
